While many aspects of A. medusa are small versions of the larger sister A. barberae (bainesii), the flower is quite different, flowering is much earlier and propotionally larger than its sister.

flower early December in my garden.. showing obvious aloe mite damage.. .this is one of the more sensitive aloes to aloe mite and one of about a half dozen that nearly always gets infected every winte
