The blooms are much deeper truer red than they appear in the photo and the leaves a much richer green. The stamen are pure white.I had a lot of trouble attempting to obtain a clear photo that showed the true colors.(San Antonio, Tx.)

Wild Petunia (Ruellia elegans) bloom buds are striking as they stand above the plant. They begin a somewhat light color and turn a brilliant true red.

This 32" tall by 42" wide Wild Ruellia (Ruellia elegans) was dug up at the first of the summer and "thrown" on top of the dirt in this container (forgot to add more soil to it). It has grown & grown!

In my garden they only get morning sun...and not much water.

Much adored by those who’ve grown it “Elegant Ruellia” is a showstopper of a perennial in the part-shade garden.

To 2’ tall & up to 3’ across with attractive sage-like leaves held on branching stems, this Ruellia well tolerates heat & humidity & is NOT INVASIVE like some of its cousins.
