Ghost Fern" is a garden hybrid of two deciduous ferns, the popular Japanese Painted Fern (Athyrium niponicum var 'Pictum'), crossed with a Lady Fern (A. filix-femina). The breeder was Nancy Swell of V

These ghost ferns have grown beautifully for me here in Massachusetts. My secret: Almost full sun all day. They just need frequent H2O.

Three big clumps of it were planted to shade the clematises roots but I did have to move it as the root balls expanded a bit too much.
