The Pale Evening Primrose is a Texas wildflower that has delicate blooms that are approximately 2 to 3 1/2 inches in diameter. As the blooms mature, they turn a rosy pink. Blooms appear from March to July. Shown in early April. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Evening primroses are also known as buttercups. This name is derived from the fact that the 2.5 to 3 inch in diameter bloom is cup-shaped and buttery-colored pollen is left usually on the nose when one smells the bloom. White Evening Primrose blooms from March to July. Shown in early April. (San Antonio, Tx.)
