As the flowers open and close each day they grow larger and deepen in colour - the flower on the right is about four days older

As the flower ages, not only does the colour deepen, but the petals grow these beautiful rippled edges

Leuchtenbergia principis: Pot is kept on a porch by Dripping Springs, TX, has bright indirect light from late spring until the end of August, gets mid-day to evening direct sun the rest of the year.
