This neat little Kaempferia has long narrow striped leaves. The foliage is the main attraction. It is the humid/coastal souths answer to the Hosta. Plants go completely dormant after first frost and is completely hardy. If plant gets too much sun, it will burn.

Ginger K gilbertii in a plant stand. They filled out beautifully, remained lush and problem-free all through summer to early Fall. Next time I'll take a picture with more of a view from the top, so you see the creamy-white edges of the foliage better. This picture was taken in early morning, the plant was in shade from about 10 o'clock on.
