Each Red Powder Puff (Calliandra haematocephala) leaf has a pair of stipules at the base of each leaf. The leaf has two axes of leaflets and are twice compound.

A Red Powder Puff (Calliandra haematocephala) seed pod (seedpod) cluster - There were no blooms nor bloom buds; however, it had to have bloomed in order to have seed pods (seedpods).
