This tree will grow almost anywhere. It is grown in large cities because it tolerates pollution so well.

This is a very invasive tree: here lots of young trees have made there appearance and are difficult to get rid of!

Underside of leaf. Note the spike with an orange-yellow "gland." That gland (for lack of a better word) exudes a sticky substance that is attracting bees. Must be nectar, but a very odd source.

Although I am concerned with Ailanthus's aggressive reproductive traits, I was sad to see this huge old giant fall to Hurricane Ike. Central Park, Louisville, Kentucky.
