This is the largest tree of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, but still only an average specimen for Ceiba pentandra!

Vieques Island, 2005. This Ceiba is documented to be well over 200 years old and the base is 35'+ wide.

The tree these flowers came from has a green trunk and thorns. I believed it to be a Chorisia species.
