The Asiminas belong to the custard-apple family whose fruit is edible. They can be identified easily with their large fleshy fruits, pungent leaves, and showy flowers. Typically the trees grow in groups or patches, hence the name Pawpaw patch.

In late September the fruit turns a dark brown which means it's ready to pick and eat. Warning: These fruits are extremely sweet and not for the faint of heart.

Six year old Pawpaw in Lincoln Ontario (zone 7). April 6th 2010 puffy flower buds tripled in size over the last six days in record heat. You can see the terminal leaf beginning to emerge as well.
