Violet Cury Nature Preserve - Tampa, Florida - October 2004

This is a picture of the entire plant. They are quite small and inconspicuous until they bloom. I was quite happily surprised to find these little violets blooming, nestled around a plant I rescued last August (2002). They are quite easy to miss, existing with just a few narrow leaves for the better part of the year.

A closer picture of the violet\\\'s bloom. You can see the violet stripes on the bottom petal of the flower. The flowers are about 1/4 to 3/8 inch wide.

Closer picture of the plant. The woody stem of the plant it is next to is about 1 inch (2.5 CM) in diameter.

Found on moist, sandy soil in the Everglades.
