This is Chilitepin - Close Up

I suspect this may be a cross between the chiltecpin and another small pepper, although it looks quite like Jean Andrew\\\'s illustration of the chiltecpin in her wonderful book. I say that because this is a third generation plant, planted in my garden by Mrs. Mockingbird in a place of her choice. At any rate, the peppers are excellent when mashed and cooked in scrambled eggs.

The chilipiquin pepper provides color with nonstop blooms and peppers throughout from spring until the first hard freeze. It is still blooming in December. (San Antonio, Tx.)
