A bright flower in the hottest part of summer. Make sure they are kept watered, and separate the bulbs every couple of years.

Gladiolus callianthus (Abyssinian Gladiolus) freshly sprouted bulbs in different stages of growth. At emergence, the sprouts are reddish, but soon the green, strappy leaves appear. (El Paso, TX, 2009)
