Zone 8b, NC Florida. Rhizomes purchased at a discount store five years ago labeled "Mr. President." Spectacular lush medium green foliage and superb red color. Spreads rapidly. Grows in either clay or sand, but requires lots of water. Mulch heavily in winter, feed frequently in growing season.

Tall Canna with large read heads & huge green leaves. Dig in the fall and store during winter in Iowa.

Apparently some of my 'President' cannas have naturally hybridized with some of my other cannas, because a few of its flowers now have yellow margins! I'm not too happy about this, as I really like the usual deep, solid red color of this plant.
