I had always thought this was an "Old English Cottage Garden" flower, so was surprised to see so many entries. Main problem here are its shallow roots, which get eaten by bugs.

My daughter and I love this plant. We got our start from my mother. It is a good choice on a slope that is rocky and dry. Second year blooms were fantastic!
