Bloom of Barbara Karst. Picture doesn't do it justice; it's very bright red.

The 'Barbara Karst' flowers are tiny and white. The red structures are called "bracts". I trim off the colorful tips of the bougainvillea before the first freeze, let them dry and place the bracts in clear vases and bowls, use them in potpourri and flower arrangements and in many other ways.

This is a Barbara Hurst they seems to bloom better with less water for me. They are good in containers also.

"Barbara Karst' bougainvillea is one of the most popular bougainvillea cultivars. In the fall, its red color intensifies. (November, San Antonio, Tx.)
