The calla lily leaf is gracefully shaped with lighter colored thin veining and margins. Shown here slighty backlit by the morning sun. It is a beautiful plant even when it is not in bloom. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Zantedeschia aethiopica (calla lily) is cold hardy to zone 8. This photo shows some leaf burn from freezes in Zone 8a. It looks great now and I am thrilled it is cold hardy here.

Compare this photo with the one I posted earlier and note how much it has grown above the leaf burn in just a couple of weeks. It is going to bloom now. (The leaves are covered with oak pollen.)

The Arum Lily, Calla Lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) spathe dries and folds over to protect the inside as it produces seeds. This one is open a little after I peeked inside.

Looking insde of the Arum Lily, Calla Lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) drying spathe, one can see the seed capsules which contain the seeds. The capsules look like small kernels of corn.
