Balloon Flower, Chinese Bellflower, Japanese Bellflower (Platycodon grandiflorus) plant with a little frost damage just emerging from its winter sleep at the end of March after a very cool spring.

Three year old plant grown from seeds, planted in a 24cm (9 1/2") diam. pot, 75cm (29 1/2") tall, blooming for the second year.

Flowers and unripe seed-pods. From the 4 seedlings I kept, 3 reverted to plain white flowers. Only one plant produces the spotted flowers (all flowers are spotted)
