I have never heard of a tree philodendron. I once saw a philodendron so big it went from one side of a room, across the top of wall to wall, sliding glass doors to the other side of the room, and it had blooms and fruit on it. I do not remember what the blossoms looked like tho. Nor the fruit. It has been so long ago, like about 50 years, so I just don't remember. But, will always remember th happytail wrote:
We call them Split Leaf Philodendron here. I didn't know they bloomed until spring of 2013. We had a very mild winter, and mine didn't lose its leaves, and it bloomed heavily. Jnette wrote:

I do have one I have had in an oak barrel for 30 years. It is amazing. It flowers every year. I may water it twice a year. It has tons of aerial roots and must gets its water from the air. Though the roots will latch onto my stucco house and do damage so my husband has been known to cut them all off at times. It is impossible to kill even with severe neglect.

I do live on Saint Simons, and my husband works at FLETC. We do have snakes here, but not more than anywhere else, I don't guess. We moved here from New Orleans about 4 years ago. The climate here is about the same, but the soil here is nothing but sand. I have to amend everything I plant. |
