Taken on 29th June 2007. This moth is found throughout Britain, in the south migratory influxes can swell numbers.

Taken on 16th July 2008, Lincoln UK. Males are usually dark with pale stripes on the leading edge of forewings. They have a dark patch near the bottom outer edge of wings.

They fly from July through September. Females are lighter in colour and often smaller but I'm not certain this is a female. The black band on orange underwing is constant.

Taken 10/10/07, larvae are active through late fall & early winter. Note the distinctive chevrons on the back.
