Taken on 16th September 2008, Lincoln UK. Wingspan 10-16mm, the adults fly from June to October. Found mainly in the southern half of Britain and Ireland.

Separated from M. obviella late 19th C. M. crocicapitella has a darker dorsal stripe & less distinctive marking on forewings, which are more speckled. Larvae feed on dried animal & vegetable refuse.
