A better and more often used name for this moth is The Asteroid as the latin name indicates. Here he is on my porch showing his underwing. July 30, 2003.

Once again the imagination was used naming this moth. If you look at this moth from the side he looks like an asteroid flying through space. On my porch on July 19, 2003 for a yard first.
