A cocoon of a White-marked Tussock moth caterpillar. The caterpillar was found eating staghorn sumac and then when ready, made his cocoon and pupated on a sumac leaf on Sept. 2, 2006.

The female moth is wingless. They do not eat and usually spend their short life on their cocoon.
