| Bixa Species Bixa orellana mine is still small though ive had it 3 yrs. i havet taken care of it really. its been in a container, and since i got it, ive been growing other thing... more edible things. so now i have a re-interest in this plant thinking i may get edible seed from it. supposedly they have little taste, but, are very healthy. since i have never re-potted it (im sure its very rootbound) it is still quite small. i also thought it was going to die like 4 times it does loose leaves in winter, but always seems to come back. i did protect it once when it hit 25F here. i am curious as to what temps it will take if i plant it in the ground before it dies ? | Plants, Cuttings |  (greenman62) |

| Papaya Carica papaya i started growing this plant in Feb. so, i dont know about the fruit etc... i think this one is yellow fleshed from Hawaii, instead of the normal ref-flsehed papaya from Mexico Waimanalo is also called x-77 and you can get the seeds from ebay. also from the University of Hawaii ($3 free shipping) http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/seed/seeds.asp "Waimanalo Papaya (X-77) is a yellow flesh solo papaya, which bears low to the ground initially. Mitragyna Mitragyna speciosa have plant, cuttings etc... tried to root from cuttings with no luck, though i have very little experience rooting anything from cuttings except basil and mint. We had a very cold winter this year, my greenhouse was finished after the first freeze, so it did survive temps of 32F, but the plant was close to the house for warmth, and it lost most of the leaves. I dont think it would have survived a normal winter in New Orleans (zone 9b) without some kind of protection. Lots of people want this plant, but few realize its fairly hard to grow in North America in the winter. it also doesnt like to be very dry, though i do have it in a container, in-ground it may be different.
