What a lovely new venue to debut our first public act outside of California!! This is the bunch of lovely ladies that I have the pleasure of dancing with. We are called the Girlfriends, and though the individual members have changed slightly through the years, we have been together as a group for 4 years now. The main goal for our group is to have fun. Those roses are just the thing, Terri, as our special dance this year is none other than ........the TANGO.

So, enjoy all the drinks and goodies that this cafe has to offer, and stay and make some new friends after the show.

The Ladies in red look like they do indeed enjoy their activity. I always admire those who can dance. I would be flattering myself to say I have two left feet. I am more like a three legged centipede with rollerskates on ice... not pretty but a lot of laughs.

BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!! ENCORE!!!!!!!! Put your hands together for 'The Girlfriends'
Fabulous show Dianne, Your outfits look very glamarous, Beautiful! Thanks so much. More! More! More! please!!!

Hi everyone! Well, I finally got the boat moored out back and took the catfish to the kitchen.

I sure hope I am on time to see more of the Dancing Ladies! Heard the first show was fabulous.. I hope they can do a Flamigo dance for us, I heard the Tango was marvelous!

Hey Milky Joe, how about a cuppa! Lovely arrangement there terri.
The hub and I got caught up in planting the big tomatoes and potting new cherry tomatoes and bumping up the peppers today so I will have to go and see yet what I can pick and put on the tables.

Right now I need a break! Ok if I rest my weary feets up here?

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks all for the warm welcome. PG - the bouquets of fleurs are very much appreciated.

Terri - thanks for bringing back Milky Joe.

The next dance we do, we want all the cafe regulars to join us. And there is no such thing as two left feet, Zany - just dazzle them with your smile!!

Blossom - once you have rested your feet, come on out to the dance floor.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

The theme of the show was Dance wars - with the Passion side against the Transcendence side - here is a photo of my fellow dancing partner and I - we took part as background dancers for the Transcendence side.

I did one solo number for this show - it was a bolero. I bought this dress about 5 years ago and have been waiting for an occasion to wear it.

soilsandup, I'll participate. But all of you have to promise to laugh loudly and whole heartedly...no snickers please!

You look great in the red dress but you look radiant in the white!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Zany. And of course, only snickers allowed are the chocolate kind LoL.

Almost forgot - here is an arrangement for the front entrance area of the new cafe.

So here I am a day late and dollar short again. Missed the show and the encore! I can tell from the reviews that it was quite the extravaganza and the Girlfriends are top line entertainment. You are quite the apple of the eye candy as well Dianne.
Zany, I bet we could teach you a few steps and you would be dancin the jig in no time.
Terri the new cafe is quite "sexy" looking in the dark, outside with the roses. Quite a nice theme for the even entertainment!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

On no haighr, they said I had to dance...hmm about those left feet.. I got a bum knee....LOL! Maybe you all can just roll me around the floor on a wheeled barstool! LOL!

So you are just in time the show is going on!

Soils you look fab!

Louisville, KY

Milky Joe! My favorite nutter. Cheers.
Dianne, you look radiant. A sure sign that life is good.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks everyone. Life is good for the most part. Like Blossom, I do have a bum knee that limits me somewhat.

Blossom - I actually saw a musical in which some of the dancers sat on rolling office chairs and they were danced around the floor - a wheeled barstool would be very fitting in our cafe.

Candee - we hung around and did a reprisal just for you. Glad you can make it too.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I watched the entire thing on BB's video camera and it was marvelous. Sure wish I had been there for the original but at least I got to see it t-voed!

london England, United Kingdom

Hi everyone!
Lovely dresses Dianne, you look stunning in both! Enjoyed the dancing, the best bit was watching Zany..LOL!!
Beautiful arrangement for the cafe', Thank you.
Good to hear Milky Joe was a hit, remember she makes other flavours too!.
I was quite pleased with the new look cafe' Candee, Thanks!
The Peony buds in the coffee pot have opened now, so I am bringing them inside.
I was getting so jealous of all the other Peonies flying around, when I saw them in the supermarket I just had to... LoL!
Haven't even seen Candee's Peonies yet but I know they will be fab!!

Dianne, I forgot to say, lovely new fish tank background for your pretty arrangement!

Thumbnail by terriculture
Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Milky Joe is a She??? Must be short for Josephine. I should have know by the flower on her head.

Terri - I have never, ever, seen peonies for sale at any of our supermarkets here. Or florist shops (though I rarely frequent them). What a great find. The "fish" tank is actually a painting done by some students depicting early plant and animal life on the earth. It is a neat picture.

My hair is covering most of my face, but here's a photo of the West Coast Swing number that I did in December, but decided not to do it again in May since it is a much faster piece with quicker steps. I am hanging up my dance shoes for a bit (but not totally) and concentrate on some intense physical therapy for my knees. I am learning a lot about osteoarthritis these days.

Thumbnail by soilsandup
Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Ouch, that looks too painful for me but looks like you were having a ball. Sorry you have to hang up the shoes for a while that is a bummer, but you want to be able to do this in a few months so better rest up now.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

soilsandup, I really like that last picture. The action is captured nicely and the look on both of your faces really shows that you are having a lot of fun. Good luck with the therapy. I hope it can help you with the knee pain.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, we just returned from the clinic. The Mr is moving much better and I am about my usual self. Oh man how we love our bone crusher!

Ok, I am ready, whose taking a twirl with me on this wheely barstool? Last one shoving me across the ballroom floor is a rotten egg! LOL!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Glad to know the bone crusher helped. Now hold on...you are about to experience a the barstool dance ;~)

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Bone crusher???? Am I missing something here?? Now that sounds painful.....

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Bone Crusher, Torture Specialist, Pressure Artist, Back Cracker...Chiropractor ;~)

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

BONE CRUSHER: the amazing pain fixer! We love our chiropractor! Could not live without him... releives pain without drugs!!! Well, the majority of pains anyway. Some things he cannot do. I wish we could see him more often. I think we have one of the best pain clinics in the country! They are total caree from accupuncture to many therapys and including the "bone cracking", there is massage therapy, just a total facility with a medical staff and everything.

Weeeee! That barstool dancing is fun!

Well, I am gonna have to spin out of here...we have stuff to do. Hoping to get the watermelon and cantalope patch in today.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Just wanted to drop in this am and say hello to everyone and wish them a happy holiday weekend. Glad you and hubby are feeling a bit more spry there blossom. Steve and I have a lot of projects for this weekend, so will try to pop in if I get a chance, but if not please everyone enjoy.

Is there a picnic or barbeque planned for the cafe this year?

Louisville, KY

I ran over the neighbor's cow, so yes, we are having a BBQ. Just kidding. Glad to hear folks are on the mend. Hope y'all have a great weekend, fun and rest and fun. Going to play in the garden, scribble, watch a movie, hopefully better than There Will Be Blood. Great acting, sets, ect. but the script was weird. Will have to read the book.

london England, United Kingdom

Hi everyone!
Good luck with the Physio Dianne. Great action shot of you dancing!
A picnic or bbq would be nice Candee, when the weather warms up. lol

I'm not going to Chelsea Flower Show this year but have started a new thread with a link to a ' Virtual tour' of the Flower show and the Floral design marquee. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend all.

Plantgeek, save some of that cow for us!! Make mine a roast beef with banana peppers and gravy on french with lots of mozerella and some ketchup!

I think after all this wild dancing we are just gonna try to relax.

Hub and I are gonna repair a flower box and get the sitting garden back in order.

Yesterday we assisted a trucker in an accident so EVERYONE...be careful out there the Memorial Day 500 is on every highway imaginable. The poor guy tried to stop and slithered his tractor and trailer off the road, jackknifing it and landing himself stradling a ditich. He was very lucky to walk away.

Oh blossom that is awful, so glad nobody was hurt. Only way we shall hurt ouselves this holiday weekend is overworking which we always do. I mulched the sun garden and it took 2 full days and of course the weather went from freezing to 90 degrees and I thought I would die of sunstroke so I really took my time, but it is done today finally.
Terri, thanks for the link, sorry to hear you are not going but sure you have plenty to do instead!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, we have been taking it pretty easy. Only did a little around here. I planted my 4oclocks to that big pot with some dusty miller and put some marigold seeds in it and well , what comes comes.

I tried to take some more pictures. Dont know if I am getting better at it or not.. it is as someone said "exasperating"!

Well, on the good news our friends son has been released from the hospital and is now going through physical therapy. Truly that boy and that trucker are both walking miracles.

Hope everyone is safe. I thik we wil head back outside and enjoy the evening.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Happy day to all! We have been out every day and evening as the weather is fab. Hope to just relax a bit today - will be fixing some bacon and eggs on the grill shortly and taking a day of R&R.

Louisville, KY

No rest for the weedy. Been catching up on that all weekend, sowing seeds, weeding, tending iris, weeding, setting viny things... weeding.

Glad to hear the good news Blossom.

Hope y'all are well, fat and happy.

For anyone that drops in, I made a batch of cooling hibiscus tea, watercress sandwiches and Key Lime Pie.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oh thanks geek, I believe I will have a piece of that pie right now before dinner. Yum, you are one great cook!
I made an arrangement yesterday and thought it would make for an interesting new theme. Anyone care to partake? I bet somebody has a pair of gold pumps that they just can't wait to use for this one?

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/993070/

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, we did some yardwork. Put in some daylilys, prepared a hosta bed and just took our sweet time all day enjoying what looked like could turn to rainy weather, but we only got a drizzle.

I am trying to catch up on my swaps, so hoping every one is patient because we had some rotten things happen, but will get them as soon as I can. Between the weather and stuff going on.. sheesh, but I think we settled down to a low roar with the exception of the 1 to 3 inches of rain predicted for the next day or so.

Thanks for the cuppa and haighr...hmmm pumps? OMG, no way not with this bum knee!! I am gonna have to watch though sounds cute!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Terri - thanks for the link to the Chelsea flower show. Guests are gone now - I'll take the tour soon.
Candee - interesting new thread. Will have to find my pot of gold somewhere to use. LoL

Plantgeek - thanks for all those goodies. They were just as good as the goodies that I had in a tea house that I went to with a dear friend a couple of days ago. Not sure how common they are - but these places serve afternoon tea (your choice from a huge variety of offerings), you pick the tea, cup, and a hat, and they serve up trays of afternoon goodies. Terri - would it be like a high tea or something like that?

Blossom - glad you got some yardwork done. Sorry that you are swamped with stuff going on - here, have a bowl of freshly picked cherries.

Thumbnail by soilsandup
Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Memorial day here is synonymous with cherry picking at my house. We used to go cherry picking at the U-picks when the kids were young - the cherry tree that I planted over 10 years ago has been supplying us with all the cherries that we can use for the past few years now. Here is a shot of the family members partaking in the cherry picking - including my mom (with hat), daughter, aunt and cousins.
