Here's a Pacific Coast Iris. I've got buds on some of my bearded iris too.
And here's where we came from

What's happening in your spring garden #3
Thanks KC, I'm pretty happy with it. Smells good too.
Beautiful tour of your garden, wcgypsy. That Iris is gorgeous. I'm kinda thrilled because weegy promised me some of her iris when she separates them this summer. Love the Salvias, escpecially the Salvia Marine Blue, but those spikes of Echiums are incredible!
More soon!
WIB,
SW
I love Echiums too--mine are just barely starting to bud so it'll be a little while before I see blooms though. Mine are a cultivar called 'Blue Candles' which is much more blue rather than the lavender-blue color that many of them are. I've got a couple other weird species too that I picked up from Annies--can't remember which ones off the top of my head.
Pedestrian? With those colors? They are beautiful, Linda.
Roses are never pedestrian.....
yeah ! What wcgypsy said ! LOL
what a beautifulgarden! I'd love to stroll through that arbor and along that path.
JasperDale, Wowser! And look at all those arbors hanging around, hiding in the background!
Now that's what I'd call pedestrian, for sure!
Thanks for sending it out,
Linda
Oh, and I freed a carton of ladybugs this evening. Goin' after those aphids slithering about my little rose buds.
Linda
Jasper what are those beautiful blues? Is that lobelia? I'm such a sucker for blue flowers......LOVERLY garden.
Thanks, twin---I noticed aphids all over the new growth on the potted Japanese maple in my courtyard this morning. Should'a gotten some ladybugs. Have to put them on the list.
Lookin' good, JD...are you going to be on the garden tour again this year?
I think we all need to tour JD's garden! Road trip, road trip...
Not doing the tour this year. 2 years in a row was enough ! I just want to be a spectator this time.
Ima: Yes, the blues are Lobelia and Anchusa. I'm way into blue.
Kathleen, my entire garden would fit in your covered patio !
Yeah, JD? Well all my plants would fit in your garden with room to spare! So there. I'll take some photos of my blues tomorrow - you won't believe how that Blue-eyed grass has grown. I broke my 'no buying' rule today and bought two more Ceanothus - as if we need more!
Lots of pretty roses everyone! My 'Happy Chappy' has a flower or two, I'll try to get a pic this weekend.
SW--Are the pink flowers maybe a Silene of some sort? I have no idea which one though.
What a picture show! JD, I LOVE that arbor.
LOVE your pedestrian walk JD!!
Love the anchusa----no problems with the larger one, but only one of the pricey Annie's dwarf plants made it thru our winter. I was hoping they would reseed, but maybe I got them in the ground too late.
Here's my favorite anchusa combo from last year. Should look like this again around the end of this month.
Ima: That shot of the Anchusa and iris is stupendous ! What iris is it?
The anhcusa will reseed if you leave the old flower heads on until they turn brown...then just shake them and you'll see the seeds. They'll resprout the same season.
SW: Yes, those flower flies are doing the wild thing ! Bug porn at it's best. Can't wait to know what that pink flower is...and that salvia is great. I've tried those numerous times but they mildew terribly here.
Doss: Where do you get those iris in the top photo? It's really nice.
Yes, Doss, where do you get your native iris. I would like some native iris under my pine trees, do you think they would like it there?
JD, there has to be one Salvia you can grow - have you asked wcgypsy?
I went out to take pictures, but it's too cool and breezy - the poppies aren't even open.
Wow ! Great color combination. I think there's a really expensive dl like that as well.
I think Weegy might sell PC iris. I'll contact her and ask.
Jasper, I planted that iris before I had brains enough to keep track of my stuff. I think it might be Copper Classic---it's close anyway. I vaguely remember it having "Copper" in the name. I either got it in Sacramento or in Aromas, and it was probably 3+ years ago.
