I would start shipping sometime in April from this end and would depend then on your end...
You receive a fairly good size clump so that hopefully they will bloom much sooner.

I like the Emerald Isle !!!! And the Japanese iris Ruri Ogi, OOOOOH
Not bored Keep going!!!!!
Anita, really?
Polly, thank you for sharing all the different types of iris.
I like Eileens Dream and the Contraband Girl.
The beardless iris do so well in so many areas shame more and more people do not grow them.
Emerald Isle is registered but not yet introduced until 2010

Yes, more people need to grow the beadless. They are so easy to grow, the sibs, and JIs especially.
I'm thinking of trying spurias this year, and I know just where to get them!
Thank you. The only beardless I do not grow are the Louisanas because even tho many are breathtakingly beautiful many are are also almost invasive here. When I first got interested in the LA I got 5 out of those 5, 4 had to be divided two or three times a year. Do not need to add that my work load.
I think you will like the spuria they are a super landscape plant and hardy need any dividing.
D
If you get dry in summer, which I think, that is the reason spuria do well in your climate. They will grow here, but few wish to bloom. We were told, 'don't water them in summer'. We really need the rain for other types of plants, &, or irises, so I guess we will do without them. Our second siberian bed, which replaced the one with too much shade, is starting to get too much shade.
I do have some drier areas I can try them in. A woman I know locally does very well with them. I understand spuria like to be damp until established, and then grown more dry. I also understand, as Dee said, they don't like or need to be distrubed. And the woman that grows them locally uses them in bouquets, and they are lovely for that. Very graceful. How about some pics of them Dee?
LAs grow very well here, not invasively but well. But they take a long time to flower, a few years, where the sibs and JIs flower for us the year after planting. I can't imagine having to divide an iris more than once a year! I have some sibs that like to be divided every year, some of the tetraploids, but not more than once a year!
I have a few, I just planted them in the same beds as the iris, they do great there. Something strange, but I am very glad about, my Arils were not bothered with all of the 55" of rain lasts season, usually they like no moisture during the Summer, and they did better through it all than the bearded iris.
And something blue! That's beautiful, Shadow! I just love those new blue JIs. I have the blue intros from Ensata from last year, I hope will bloom this year. I usually get one bloom the first year on JIs, then good bloom the following.
Polly and Dee, love your pictures! See, beardless can grow in zone 4b.
Thanks, Shadow. Beardless can definitely grow in Z4.
