dark wine and good orange iris..please advise

Melfa, VA(Zone 8a)

I am looking for a dark wine self (or bi-color if the standards and falls are still shades of dark wine) and a good orange iris. Would prefer large and ruffled. Any suggestions for cultivars???

We can grow 'Celtic Glory' (Stahly) in our zones ,6a & 5. 'Cackling Caldera' (Aitken) is an orange-yellow blend, which stands out in the garden. Have you looked at the Winterberry catalog in VA? They don't do a website, but would have the wine colored plants historic & new.

Melfa, VA(Zone 8a)

Yes, I have been looking at all of the websites I can find. Winterberry is not too far from the route I take to vist my daughter and I am thinking about going there later this year. In the meantime, I am going to order a catalog/list from them. I just wanted some ideas before I traded/purchased any.

OK, check this one out. Color is in the 'eye of the beholder', so to me this could be dark wine. What do do you see?

I really like the 'Viva Mexico'. A really nice color! 'Golden Panther' is nice and dark too. The last 'wine' looks like a dark purple to me on here and a lot of nice pics of wine irises, but looking for something almost black but in a really dark wine color.

Mango Entree is the best of the orange irises in my garden.

Here is Merlot, it has been a good grower for me.

Neon Cowboy might qualify as well, and it is darker than Merlot. There are pictures of it in PlantFiles.

I grow several oranges (always sell well). One of my favorites is Fireside Glow. It is an older Sch intro. Wild Thing is a good wine along with Gypsy Romance.

CAncel that being Dark Passion.....it was a mislabel from Iris sisters and there was nothing else in that shipment that matches, so now it is a NOID!!!

It is however a very nice wine colored noid.

Any guesses on ID would be appreciated!!
