This one has been in my garden as an unknown for a couple of years. It has spent it's life here as Not-Agate Pass...
The colors positively glow like a jewel!
Gold MTB - last plea for ID tonight
So when the MTB Ozark Jewel appeared at our iris show this spring, I felt sure it was the same as mine though looking at the pictures I am less sure now... 6 months later.
However, unless the standards and falls are reversed, the entry of said OzJ does not fit the AIS description of: S. white edged lemon yellow; F. lemon yellow; beards orange, fading yellow.
And what are the chances the registration data was entered wrong? Probably slim. Too pretty to remain nameless! Thanks again for any suggestions on either/both of these MTB’s.

those are really beautiful.... wish I could help
You might try sending a picture to Aitken's Salmon "Creek Garden for a possible ID> They handle Ken Fisher's MTBs & Ozark Jewel is his plant.
Typical presentation of MTB Agate Pass
I found this picture I took in 2003 of Agate Pass in VA, in the garden I then bought it from. I see why when mine first bloomed so yellow here, I wondered who it was, and wrote NOT on the sign. Putting this picture side-by-side with the picture from my garden… same form… same pattern markings on falls… Well, look at that - that first one posted IS Agate Pass.
Mine matches the description ‘S. yellow-beige; F. beige with pale blue wash through center; orange beard.’, but the yellow of the yellow-beige is more expressed here. I had it verified by someone at MIS, who noted the typical presentation is this more beige.
This is a nice example of an environmental color difference. Now I wonder if that 2nd yellow above (Ozark J-Not) - which grows about 20 miles from me - is also atypically colored. I had sent the question if its ID to Terry Aitken as you suggested, irisMA - he could not ID it.
Agate Pass - Hudson Valley Style
MTB J. Witt 1977/1978 M 23”
Atypical, but consistent!
The ruffles on the standards, which are just too cute, and the pattern of markings on the falls are a match in form to Agate Pass. Thank you Jean Witt ~ so sorry I doubted your iris.
As it was purchased as Agate Pass and ID made by another who knows it, I’ll be scrubbing the ‘NOT’ from its name sign this spring. I imagine the color difference has some basis in carotene expression…but that’s as far as my imagination goes. …maybe that same expression is what makes our local sweet corn - the best!
Thank you everyone ~ hespiris
