Photos of Europe by an American

You may have seen some of these photos in the past I drop them into threads every now and again. Thought I would do a series of them.

I went to Paris first....

Paris Conservatory>

Bois du Boulonge, a park in Paris>

It is a very well kept park.

Went to Amsterdam a couple weeks later, here is the botanical garden building>

They have tulips in Holland>

Lots of tulips>

They have graffiti too, the A with a halo stands for Angel, worldwide.

I think the Dutch have a billion tulips>

Then I went to Berlin, they had a nice Botanical Garden>

Then I went back to Paris>

Paris is a very photogenic city>

In Paris I saw lots of interest sites>

I bought a book that listed over 110 parks in Paris, I still have it

This is Parc des Buttes Chaumont >

The topography of Paris is almost as good as that of San Francisco USA.

Then I went to London and the Chelsea Flower show>

Saw lots of excellent displays at that show>

Took in some of the sights of London, like Syon Park.

London has lots of pocket parks>

And Kew>

And in Kew are the Queen's Kew Gardens>

England has some of the most impressive trees on Earth, this is a beech, with purple leaves, not widely grown and this one has been there for a long time.

And then back to Paris>

I had a free apartment in Paris. A friend from TX had moved there and he was in Greece and Algeria for a few months. He was very kind to let me use the place.

I keep going to parks everytime I went back to Paris, final tally was 34.

I am glad I had a camera, I would never have remembered all those places.

I did enjoy the French, even tho they speak a different language I got along well.

I like London too, but, WOW is it ever expensive. If I had stayed in London I would have only been able to afford a 2-3 week vacation. Having a free apartment I managed to stay 6 weeks. London street side park>

That was back when I lived in San Francisco, this is my orchid hedge on the roof garden, hope you enjoyed these photos. I have a many more, but, these are some of the best>

Wow dale Would love to see those mass plantings of tulips in person. The parks are beautiful.

DaleTheGardener, why did you make this trip. Just to see a part of Europe or to see gardens?

I went to see the people who gave America it's civilization & culture and to spend some time in their gardens.

Antwerp (?)

Dale - thought you might enjoy seeing this. Its a picture of what those lovely purple leaved beech look like in the fall - and shows why they are called copper beech. The one on the right of the picture - (the pair on the left are oaks). Its been a magnificent autumn this year.
