Gainesville, FL

Is this a tree or a vine??

I have a bauhinia vine, B. yunnanensis. Its very small and delicate, not at all like glabra.

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Its a Vine its very Delicate To

Gainesville, FL

cool, what do you have it climbing on?? It looks very large in your photo...is that an extreme closeup? The leaves on my yunnanensis are only about the size of a dime

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

mine are about the size of a quarter its on a tall trellis paul

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Its pretty. Is it also fragrant?

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Very cool Paul!!!

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Nope

Gainesville, FL

I don't think any of the Bauhinias are fragrant, are they?

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

Wouldn't it be cool if they were? I know the trees aren't, but I didn't even know they were vining, too.

Nice, Paul!

Gainesville, FL

I can;t get back there at the moment to take a photo of it, I stacked too many big pots in the front of the greenhouse when the temps plummeted yesterday. But I will try to take a photo soon of my B. yunnanensis vine. Its pretty cool. Its not in bloom, but its still cool.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Marie-
you definitely need to try this one!

Mine is in zone 8a, and for the past two years, has not even died back during winter...just lost some leaves...

They are fantastic in the heat, and are not a water-guzzler. They are one of my favorites. They should do well for you.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Marie-
dmail me :o)

I have a packet of spare seeds that just says bauhinia vine seeds, and you are welcome to them. Not sure which variety, but any are nice, so email if you'd like them.

I scattered all of my other bauhinia vine seeds in a bed, under a cloche, so if I get some sprouts, I'll let you know.

I've started them in the greenhouse before, and they are very easy to start.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

oops...we cross posted :0)

Probably best to go with phicks' seeds...they are probably fresher :0)
