Hope you have a wonderful day :)
Happy Birthday sallyg!
HA ha ha! Hi rcn--Thanks! I'm awake already too! The big 4-9 for me!
New morning routine here: Sometime between 4 and 6 am, the cat comes in and starts messing around. That means I have to let him in the laundry room to eat a snack, then let him outside. If my door was closed, he does this scratching at the door which is quiet but still wakes me up. All the cat's activities are closely monitored by the dog of course.
LOL Phoebe woke me up in the middle of the night once this week - I thought she needed to go outside. Nope, she was just trying to let me know that Lucky was at the window and wanted in! I always hear him at the window but guess I must have been really tired to sleep through it. No problem, Phoebe takes good care of him :)
Have any special plans for your birthday? "Big 4-9" Yikes, you're just a baby :)
Short term- I better get upstairs pretty quick and grab my cell phone/ alarm clock before hubby starts fumbling for it. Whoops !! there it goes!! Who needs a cheap bedside alarm clock anymore? I am using the phone. Except I can't read it in the dark without pressing the button and it beeps. so I squint at the cable TV box.
Well, have to get the kiddies off to school. Lunch with my mom, then take her to the bank for some paperwork. Dinner- a good friend has insisted on making dinner for the family- I help her by picking her kids up from school maybe once a week so she doesn't have to take off work.
I think before that I have time to stop at my favorite nearby nursery and get her a little something, and get some fall pansies.
And whatever wonderful surprises the family has cooked up...yeah sure LOL
I will treat myself by planting my butt back here at 8 05 as soon as they leave for school!
Thanks ladygardener! I've been out to the garden and somebody sent a hummingbird to my salvia to greet me. Amazing to watch. Its little tail end is very flexible as it maneuvers, reminds you of a sea creature.
So my hummer finally made it down to you,LOL. Saw what I think was my last one of the season about 2 weeks ago. Don't those little moments in nature just make your day.
I was driving home from work on Monday and happen to look up in the sky, (lucky traffic is not heavy on this road) there were 2 Bald eagles flying and doing loops side by side almost touching talons. What a sight, I slowed way down (checking my rear view mirror) so I could watch for a while a make sure of what I was seeing.
I checked on the inter-net when I got home to see if this behavior meant anything, the closet I could get was 2 young ones playing, but I seem to think a courtship in the sky. They mate for life.
We are getting more nesting pairs in our area. This will make 2 sightings for me.
Wonderful- I like your version. I don't think I've ever seen a real live bald eagle.
Thanks claypa--What luck the eagle's head was not blocked by the branches. Must have been exciting.
Oops! cross posted- Thank you jen! I love pink and thats a beau-tee -ful rose ! Hope your little Blue boy is liking school.

Hey, you remembered!!! It's funny, his school uniform is blue, too. He's loving it, thanks for asking.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SALLY!
From the Dr. Seuss songbook, our family's traditional serenade:
Happy Birthday to little Sally Spingle Spungle Sporn, who on this wondrous day was born!
And Happy Birthday likewise to Frederick Futzenfell, born upon this happy day as well!
And Happy Birthday also to Waldo Wilburforce... And Happy Birthday likewise to Paul Revere's fine ho-o-orse!
But most of all we sing to honor you, Sally oh our Sally.... born upon this great, great, great day too!
Thanks for being such a fun friend! I think of you each time I step out the front door and see the butterflies swarming on my garlic chive blooms... :-)
Congrats!!!!!! Wow, another birthday girl! I hope you have a wonderful day! Hugs, Bec
Happy day to you, Sallyg!! You're one of the funnest gardeners to chat with.
Thanks, guys! what fun! It's been a good day.
Thanks Shirley!
By the way, is that a toad lily, rcn? I think I saw some at National Arboretum last year at about tis time.
Lovely flowers, all !
What a gorgeous bloom, rcn! Which variety of Toad Lily is it?
See, Sally, I'm even late for your birthday. Have a wonderful week!
How did I miss this? Happy birthday, Sally! Sorry I'm late.
ooh, nice photo stormyla! My 'Golden Delicious' Pineapple Sage is finally blooming and I had a perfect opportunity to catch a photo of a visiting hummer but didn't have my camera with me :( As soon as the sun shines again I've got to remember to try watching for him again!
The Toad Lily in the photo is 'Blue Wonder' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/107829/ That photo was taken last year and I was really impressed with the almost electric blue of the blooms. For some reason this year they just don't look as blue?
Better late than never- thanks guys!
