Post all you have as your time permits. I am a nut about iris. I have one
of those electronic picture frames where you insert a camera memory card
and have the option of viewing each independently or, as I do, set it for
slide show and it continuously rotates thru all the pics. I use a 1g card so
I can put 340 pics of 3meg resolution on it if needed.
These are some classy pics. What kind of camera are you using? I have
a 6 meg fuji 6000 but it won't come close to these. I am waiting for the
canon xsi 12.2 meg to come down in price but it will probably be mid next
year. The arils (I assume AB is aril bearded) are beautiful.
I did some research on cameras before I bought. I was looking at a 12 megapixel, but the man that I talked to said the the only reason you need higher meg's is if you are going to do poster size, I don't know if that is what you intend on doing? but you can save money alot of money if you do not need that. I ended up purchasing a Nikon D40 6.1 megapixel. I actually thought that the higher the megapixels the better the quality pictures but like he told me only if you are doing posters otherwise up to a 8X10, the quality is perfect. I LOVE THIS CAMERA !!!!!!!
The big difference between our cameras is mine is fairly high quality 'point &
shoot' and yours is a SLR which is always better than the p&s. Your quality
pics must have been taken with a tripod since there is no blur at all. I found
that I moved the camera each time I 'clicked'. Tripod mounting helps me but
the auto focus is off just a tad and I haven't mastered the manual focus yet.
Those are amazingly sharp pics and you can be proud of them. Bonjon's were
very good if they were taken in the 'off hand' mode. Random pics in the field
are at the mercy of the lighting, wind and other factors.
Still love all of them.
I use no tripod. I guess I have a pretty steady hand, LOLO Thank You
Love the pictures. Thanks. I hope you will continue to post them. I will really need them as fall fades into winter. Don't stop!
I just missed being able to get Indian Beauty this year...sure wish I had from your pic!!
NickysIris: I am thinking about going to the Convention, I do already have Toucan Tango, I have over 1400 culitvars, yes I definately like unusual coloring and hard to find varites. Do you have TB Ferrous Fantasy, or BB Jungle Shadows? Those are pretty unique.
Maxsmonna: I wished I would have know you were interested in Indian Beauty, I just traded a whole bunch. I divided every single iris I had this year and increased my stock and what I had left over I traded. I am in the process of having my website developed, but it probably will not be ready, for that matter I will not be ready to sell til 2010, with the excepting of a few cultivars. My website will be www.vossirisfarm.com, keep it handy, I will post a thread when it is ready.
Thank You Guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, compile you list and let me know. I do have a picture of Polished Princess listed above. Morning Twilight I do not have. Very pretty !!!!
Here is a Tom Burseen introduction. Golly Gee Whiz. I bought several from him this year. He goes for the unusual. Can't figure out how to pull picture from this computer. Will send Wed.
I continue to enjoy all of your pictures and am amazed at how few of the ones you have posted that I have. Glad you will eventually be selling them. I have around 250 cultivars and have had one arilbred bloom. Now I am hooked. I have planted quite a few of them. i hope they will bloom in Spring 2009.
I use a Cannon G-9 image stabilized camera. It is point and shoot but is a terrific camera. I forget how many megabytes it takes but it is something like 10 or 12. All I can say is that I love it.
Perhaps someday I will go for an SLR, but I am still learning what this camera will do. I would recommend it to anyone with shaky hands.
I live about 90 miles straight east of 1913cat. Those pics of the AB's really
grab me. Can I grow them here and can someone give me a quick tutorial
on them. I must try them. Modern TB cultivars are common as dirt but those
are spectacular. They appear to be arilbreds not aril bearded if my terminology
is correct. I understand the pure arils are for very dry climates and would
probably not survive here.
Here's a link to Aril Society International... A good place to start gathering info on arils and arilbreds. http://www.arilsociety.org/index.pl?Intro
