Richmond Hill, GA

Are we talking new lilies on their site for Fall?

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Pard any $50 tetra trumpets? LOL

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

ha ha ha! No, just 40 buck OTs!

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Well if something is beautiful and unique then maybe... but $40 is getting up there.

What's up with those day lily people????

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

we are slappy happy about day lillies ^_^
why did you ask ?

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

$200+???

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Intercessor, where hve you been? That is a typical price for a new daylily introduction and has been for a number of years. There are people who pay it and then use the daylily to breed more daylilies to sell for $200+++. Makes me think of tulipmania...

edited to say-- I was wondering where this post went to when I got distracted. It went here!! Teach me to do two different things at once.

Intercessor, where have you been? That is a typical price for a new daylily introduction and has been for a number of years. There are people who pay it and then use the daylily to breed more daylilies to sell for $200+++. One pod makes beaucoup seeds that can be auctioned for ridiculous amounts of money at 3 or 4 seeds in one lot. Makes me think of tulipmania...

Well, if you bit for the "Act Two" OT in the spring '07 PNWLS sale you did good at $14 each. If you missed out but still want it, cough up 40 bucks.

Some of the "new" offerings:

Elodie
Giraffe
Cocktail Twins (double asiatic)
Dimension
Mambo
Sunny Crown
Yelloween
a few new orientals

Yellow Electric (looks like L.N.'s Electric Yellow. I kinda like it!)

Additionally, there is a new pastel tetraploid trumpet collection called "Flugelhorn". I can use more tetraploids for sure; 3/$20.

And then the usual L. G. stuff...

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

I guess I have noticed the day lily prices a little bit before, but I just don't get it... Hmmm pastel 4n trumpets.

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

I just don't get it either, and $12 was my biggest daylily splurge, but you guys have lost this newbee - Pardalinum - new offerings where? I just happened to find the Lily Nook recently and ordered electric yellow and electric, among others. Is that their own hybrid? (And sorry - off the subject somewhat, but since you call yourself pardalinum, can you tell me why the pardalinums I planted last fall only grew 1-2 feet, never flowered and are now dying back - and is there any hope for them? I'm hoping that the bulbs were just too small, but I remember them being very large.)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

My pardies took an extra year to settle in and bloom the first time. During that year they grew underground rhizomes or stolons (not sure which) and then additional bulbs at the ends of those. If you have good drainage for them they should put on a good show next year. Mine are also dying back now.

This thread morphed from buggy bulbs to the Lily Garden. Certain people here have been waiting on pins and needles to see what new lilies might be offered. I usually get the catalog first because I don't live very far from the Lily Garden.

If you look at the descriptions of the lilies that the Lily Nook sells they include the name of the hybridizer. It looks like the hybridizer of the Electrics are Dutch breeders.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Yeah, I bought Act Two at $14, but then went crazy on the virus scare and moved it, almost threw it out (thank heavens for DG introducing some sanity to a crazed virus lily scare). It's in the "Cry Pile" somewhere, I just don't know who it is. Whatever it is, I'm sorry to say that it really doesn't stand out in that pile for me, I have no idea where it is. Which means it looks like at least another few OTs in there. Worth $40? Kinda doubt it, but who am I to say? If you wanna spend, spend ;)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Magnolia, Act Two has the color form of Silk Road with the cherry color extending outward leaving a much narrower white edge than Silk Road. And yes, there are several that may look quite similar. $40 is out of my league. You can get at least several nice lilies for that price. I might be tempted to try a few from that pastel trumpet strain. But I doubt (of course, I could be wrong) that the stalks having poor form have been culled.

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for your answers, pardalinum, and I'm very happy that there's hope for my pardalinums.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

You're welcome, perenniallyme. Let us know how they do next year!

Hey Ticker, Happy Birthday!

I would have started you a thread except I can't post pics until my new computer gets and internet connection, waiting for a Vista CD! Not being extravagant but my other one locked up and the new ones are higher spec. and cheap.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

intercessor, my shipping was only $10.50 for a similar $$ amount of bulbs, interesting.....

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Happy Birthday, Ticker.
Hope you have a most enjoyable day and that it lasts all yr.
