Try protecting those peas with a deer screen from Lowes or Home Depot. It is a 7' plastic screen that is 100' long. I have had one incident where they ate the tops of about 5 bean plants. They have tried several times to get in from jumping over. They must underestimate the height since it is hard to see - they have torn the fence down, but seem to always leave from the freight of it. So far, so good and I have less than $40 dollars in my fence including t-post, concrete, etc.
The deer have picked my purple hull peas for me
