Wanted: any Iris's for postage

Lebanon, OR

Say like in just rinsing the iris nothing shows up in the rhizome or the foliage...

When you soak if you have any BUGS or I believe borers(which we DO NOT have) and any form of rot that can hide sometimes in rinse water...they all show up and you can take care of it then.

Also if you have ever had scrotch then you MUST destory the plants, and I take first a 50/50 bleach drench then a fungicide to the entire planting area of the affected dirt from the above and let it sit for 2 to 4 weeks...

D

Hope this helps

I'm not even sure I know what Iris Scorch looks like, though I've read about it.

All of these are beautiful!!
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

I'm not sure there IS a list for Oldgardenrose's Irises next year, Christmascactus.

Although I inspected each rhizome as I dug them and divided, whenIi put them in the bleach bath I found a borer worm in the bottom of the bucket. It's a very good precaution to just get in the habit of doing.

Christmascactus--Sorry I did not give you a direct reply. Yes, you will be
on my first call list along with all the other nice folks in this discussion. If
this year is any indication of next year's crop, I should have 2 or 3 hundred
nice rhizomes to dispose of. Check the iris forum for a new thread with
pics and, hopefully, some names to match.

wow that is interesting about the calling before you plant. I think that I would drive them crazy since I am a plant addict and can go for weeks wih picking up one or two a week.

Salem, IL(Zone 5b)

What I meant by first call is these people will have first choice on my spares.
I will send all of you dmails to let you know to check the forum next year and
pick out the ones you want. My wife's aunt has dibs on some whites and
colors other than blue or purple but I will have lots of them.

Sorry oldgardenrose I sure didn't know I was wrong in asking.
Meant no harm.
Boy is my face red.

cc--You were right in asking. It was my fault I did not give you the courtesy
of a quick reply. My manners sometime leave something to be desired. I
just retired and have no excuse for not taking the time to followup on my
commitments. The more people I can offer spares to, the more I may
receive in return. I just came in from putting down a piece of clear plastic
to solarize (kill the grass and insects) for another plot for irises. I cannot
help myself--I think the iris god has taken over my mind. I hope next year
is the best of all for you. Good luck. Jerry

Jerry I got my iris this morning when I got into the office. Thank you!!
Mittsy I got yours too. Thank you .

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Jerry your comment on the more you give away the more you get back. It's also good insurance. Sometimes casualties happen and you lose a favorite plant, if you have given some away there is always a good chance that you can get it back. I've had friends and family that shared their plants with me then moved at a time when they couldn't dig and take them with them. Luckily a few years later my plants were big enough to divide and give back to them. It's a win-win situation!

Salem, IL(Zone 5b)

Mittsy--I hadn't thought of an iris savings bank. Good idea. I have lost
some of my better iris after I gave a dozen away. After I dig, I replant
2 of each and try to separate them either in oppsite ends of the same
bed or in another bed.
