I just brought anything that needed it under cover on the deck - we needed new lightbulbs for the front door - DH managed to get them changed 2 minutes before it started pouring!

I can hear the rumbling - but further away and I am happy!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

It seems to have passed on through where I am. We did have a little hail and lots of wind, rain, and scary thunder & lightning, but nothing too bad. It passed pretty quick, too. Hope everyone else is weathering the storm well.

Personally, LOL, I stayed out in the down pour (till it began lightening) putting plants in the ground...it was great...no bugs....no heat and the plants got watered...and then some....^_^
Hope everyone faired ok!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

That's true dedication, Chantell!

I'm not sure how much rain we got yesterday, but I saw this morning that it was enough to completely wash the soil out of a bunch of pots of seedlings. Boo. I lost a bunch of basils and fennel and dill and some other stuff.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I hate when that happens!!!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Ugh...that's not good at all - those little ole mini greenhouses come in handy for things like that...Wally world had them for around $30, I think. Attempted to plant again today....down pour again....geez!! On the upside? Didn't have to water yesterday or today...LOL

Hanover, VA

Unfortunately my family did not make out so well. I just got power back on, and am said to say that we had excessive wind/hail damage here in King William, VA. We lost our hay barn, multiple trees, 2 greenhouses, roadside stand, and so many of our crops. We had a few thousand tomato plants in the field that may be a total loss. We are all okay, and our house is okay, so there is something to be thankful for. It just saddens me to have worked so hard in the fields and greenhouses since February, and have very little to show for it now. Luckily two of the greenhouses are still standing, and they had lots of plants for second and third plantings, so at least we have those. I hope everyone is safe, and all will be back online soon!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Oh, no! I'm so sorry for your losses but thank heavens you all are okay. Was it just bad wind or a tornado?

Hanover, VA

They have not said it was a tornado, but there was so much rotation, and there are hundreds of trees down in our area. I was home alone with my two daughters (5 and 7). We actually had to get in the bathtub, as we don't have a basement. It was over in a matter of about 5 minutes, but seemed like forever. When we went to put them to bed tonight, the thunder was rumbling in the distance. They would not sleep alone, and both of them are asleep in my bed now. I hate that they are so scared of storms now. They never were before. I am so glad the electric coop got the power back on so fast. I was expecting to be without power for a few more days. There was hail again tonight in Richmond. The weather sure has been scary lately.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm so sorry. That must have been terrifying. I have never been in a real tornado, but once was in what must have been a micro-tornado, and it was the scariest thing I've ever endured. It also was over in 5 minutes. The rear window of every single car in the block was blown out, and almost all the trees were down (this was in Washington DC); the problem was centered in our block. So I can only begin to imagine the horror you must have lived through in that 5 minutes in the tub.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

That does sound terrifying. I'm so sorry that you've lost so much, but glad that you and your family made it through safely. The weather really has been scary and weird lately.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Praying God's comfort and peace esp for your little ones. I simply can't imagine and my heart hurts for you. Praising God you all are ok.
