Thanks for your nice comments everyone. I started this 3 years ago when I got to take down my son's fullsize baseball batting cage. Grass never grew in that area, so I decided it was a giant flowerbed. Then a pond happened last year. I have a hard time getting out of that swing at times. I've loved seeing everyone's pictures and will be using idea's from them.

poppies galore just coming into bloom. These are shirley popies which were sown in the snow. We had quite a discussion about poppies and sowing temperatures. This works for me.

and an endless summer hydrangea , Queen Elizabeth Rose and shirley poppy. I almost shovel pruned the hydrangea last year, but like many plants this summer it is doing well.

Everyone's gardens are so breathtaking! I love threads like this where I can look at what everyone has growing and see how we all have unique styles, and yet some of us also seem to be kindred spirits. :)

And Sherrygirl, I have to say that those Lupines just knocked me out. Love them!

Here's a look at part of my spring garden. It will change so much in a month or so, but here's the prettiest spot right now...

Wow! You all have created some exquisite spaces- isn't gardening an amazing outlet? You get to be creative and live in beauty and, in my case, cook using the herbs and, sometimes, flowers in your food every day!

My little perennial and herb garden is very primative, compared to most of yours. I have so much shade around my house, and my bale vegetable garden is way over in the side yard. But this little garden is my favorite spot!

Here's my "shrub border" - it completed a garden room I've been building
in an horse pasture.

Here's what I call the Entrance Garden. I added the baskets on a post this
spring. DH built the stone steps over a period of time much longer than I'd
like to remember. Good thing they turned out so well.

Here's a hill that was just weeds & rocks before I put in the conifers
and perennials.

Here's a pretty combo (or one I enjoy anyhow). Two types of weigelia,
catmint and the catalpa starting to bloom in the background.

OK... one last one. I hope you don't mind so many photos!

This is the same shrub border as in my first pic but looking from
the other side. You can see the vegatable garden (well - I have
a bunch of shrubs in front of it too).

Keeps me calm during stressful situations.
