When planting out my wintersown babies I took the cartons with cups that didnt sprout and placed them in the dark shed. When in there today, I just looked in one and found this. The label was gone but it looks like a vine with a maple seed attached trying to grow with the vine. Pretty weird uh?
What The?
Looks like you've got a nice, healthy volunteer there! LOL
I set out my flats that I started indoors, then found out that my boys ran around whacking the seed heads off all the dandelions with a stick. I was picking all sorts of seed fluff out of those flats!
Ha! Hope you dont get a flat of dandelions for all your hard work :-)!
I'm wondering how this maple seed is going to root. It amazes me that it sprouted at all. Maybe the roots are coming out the dirt as the vine ( some WS seed) grows tall???
Volunteer maples certainly have no problem getting roots into the dirt! They're all over my yard.
Karen
LOL! That explains it.
