ON SAFARI.

I decided to take a Safari to my back yard and spotted this young buck munching away at the garden site that I'm getting readied. (8 pics.)

Then a second buck wandered in.

When they started eyeballing my Artichoke plants I let them know they had out stayed their welcome.

So in the 6th picture, does he think he's hiding? We were moose watching at my brother's place once and a moose walked behind a sapling that was so small it only covered his eye....but he stood there for a really long time because he thought that since he couldn't see us we couldn't see him!

Once they got the message that I wanted them to leave they moved on out without pausing except for the one in "dd "and that was only for a few seconds.

I like the idea of safari in your own yard.

I decided to take a real safari................................well really it was a couple days of birding in the Klamath Basin.........It didn't start out well. The first day I was standing next to Indian Tom Lake in a pouring rain, when this denizen from the deep surfaced next to me. Luckily the car was close enough that I got to it before being drug into the lake.

When I got to the Lower Klamath Lake my nerves were settled by these Does

and they were calmed even more by these deer at Tule Lake,

but the next day I made the mistake of standing near the water again and was nearly devoured by this growling beast, but once again the car was close by and I was saved.

I decided that enough was enough and headed for home but my nerves were dealt another blow when I saw this beady eyed character watching me.

but I was calmed again when I reached my driveway and this buck was waiting for me.

My wife spotted this buck on the edge of our front yard.

After awhile he realized that I was standing about30 feet away.

As you can see he got really nervous knowing I was there.

Ha, the old "let me scratch my ear and see if he goes away" move.

Doing the let me wash that human right out of my hair trick heheheheh

I think it is northern california, not the south pacific, ha ha

(that song was from the musical South Pacific, wasn't it?)
