Squirrel Pics!

Poor little guy! What would a squirrel do if it were afraid of heights?

Why do they have to sit IN the dish???

It was on it's way to the bird feeder but saw me watching! Sat there for about 20 minutes trying to look innocent!

Funny about the dish. Have you ever had farm cats. Pretty funny how the kittens have to stand IN the food dish.

Nope never had farm cats. I am a transplanted city girl from Indy!

They put all the empty nut shells behind the corner post...we have to clean them out!

ohh, how cute.

How many of you have peanut seedlings come up every year? LOL Our old next-door neighbors fed the critters peanuts and we always had plants come up. They're pretty little plants, actually. I love this illustration by Koehler.

hmmm...have to go check. I do have a bumper crop of sunflower seedlings!

Just a lid from a pail of a kitty litter, I drilled a few hole in it for drainage, and to tie it up to the suet cage. Doesn't stop the Grackles or the Starlings though. That's why I had rig that up. didn't work. I put seeds on top for finches too.
Now I'm taking it down during the day, because the grackles would eat it all in no time. When I hear the Woodpeckers, I put it back on for them.
They usually stop in the neighbor's tree, and give out a few calls before the fly to my tree.

Drat about the grackles and starlings! Guess not much will deter them.

Burn do you remember several months ago in the BW forum someone posted suggestions for keeping the grackles and squirrels from the suet. It was to put a cone baffle over the top of it. This might work for you. Though Pelle said that her starlings always ate from her upside down suet feeder.

Mrs-Ed, I don't recall the cone on top, but It wouldn't help much, because the Grackles are so determine, that they now access it under, like Pelle's Starling.

Sat out back for a while this evening. There was a squirrel near me in my Green Ash tree and I got several pics.

After I was out there a while he decided to come down to the feeder.

I got several squirrel photos today. First is the balancing act.

This is Stubby. There are actually 2 of these short tail squirrels that hang out in my yard.

This one snuck off to my butterfly pond area and was eating a peanut. I was in the house, so he didn't think I could see him. (Yeah, I need to pull up some of that grass.)
