Signs of spring- What do you have blooming?

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Spring has been slow coming this year. My garden is behind at least two weeks, compared to last years journal.

gardengus--I love your little blue iris.

My trumpet daffs are in bloom. My hyacinths. A few crocus (most were eaten up by the critters). A snowdrop. That's it, I think. Except for my violas and pansies I planted (purchased at Walmart).

Next week we'll have loads of bloom, won't we?!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

If the weather gets a bit warmer I am hoping for some more color.
I too purchased some pretty violas for my porch pot.
Just needed some blooms.

My columbines are blooming like crazy! This is the first year for them in my garden, so I'm a pretty happy camper.

I also have May Night Salvia blooming and attracting butterflies. This smells wonderful, too!

Then, of course, my clump of Four Nerve Daisies are blooming their little heads off. They bloom pretty much continually from early March til November.

It's good to know we can always count on our FL and TX folks to show us what's on board for our own gardens :) Those are lovely!

I agree with you Gus, things seem to be a bit behind this year - but then remember we had that week of absolutely gorgeous weather at the end of March last year - and then everything got frozen about this time. Perhaps they're just a bit gun-shy from being so frozen out last year - LOL!

So far I've had some white and purple crocus come and go - and the daffs are looking like they should open up just about any day now - perhaps with some sun today.... And the Surprise Lilies are putting up their leaves like crazy, I MUST remember to mark them all as they have to be moved this year.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I h)ave crocuses blooming - and I just planted a whole bunch of violas - some of which were blooming in their pots before I put them outside (I grew the violas from seed - I am sooo happy!

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, Seandor! I'm so impressed that you have grown from seed violas blooming! What an accomplishment! Tell us the details--what kind, how long ago did you start the seed?

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Yes when did you start them.
I winter sowed some but they are not up yet.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

This is my 2-3rd waves of Tulips that I stagger-planted for this spring. Daffs, & hyacinch blooms ofcourse have been long gone by now. But woodhyacinchs are picking up in early April.

Nice color combo are the little viola planted or self seeded?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

My little irises are 1/2 gone, but I have Hellebores.

And the Primula are just starting. This is one I bought from the grocery store last year and it's blooming before the foliage even gets completely unfurled.

This is one of my first daffodils (my actual first daffodil is all mud splattered and the pic isn't pretty. :)

This is a little true-blue Grape Hyacinth; it blooms 10 days before the next kind I have and 3 weeks before the common one. (last year was a funky year, so my actual number of days might be off a bit)

Lovely to see your spring flowers everyone. I think we are way behind you with spring over here.
My carnations were covered with snow this morning! We don't usually get snow in April.

I wish my forget me nots 'spread all over like a sea of blue'! Yours are wonderful with the little bulbs.

That's what I've been trying to do but no luck for me!

Illoquin--is your little muscari 'Christmas Pearl'? I love the early ones with the early daffs. Nice combination.

And your hellebore is so beautiful!

I didn't know buckeye bloomed when it was small.
I have some over the hill I will have to go check them out.

Pontotoc, MS(Zone 7b)

yes, I have several only 3ft tall, or less and all are blooming this year ! I tried digging one up, although I knew it was hopeless, because I am moving and wanted to take it with me. Guess I will have to start all over from seeds this fall !!! Lucky for me they are so "easy" !!

Thankyou tabasco.
Corgimom, Lovely flowers! I especially like the crossvine, does it have another name ?
