I have some regular sunflowers and then I have some pollinless ones. I was wondering if anyone here has tried taking pollen from a regular sunflower and pollinating a pollinless one.
I was thinking of giving it a go. I really like the pollinless ones and would love to get some seeds. I realize that they will not be exactly like the pollinless ones that I like, but the seeds from it should carry at least some characteristics, if it will in fact make seeds. Example of a cross I am thinking of are the mammoth with the chianti.
Make sense? Input welcome!!

Pollenless Sunflowers
Great question, I would just give it a try and see what you come up with. Last year was the first time I ever grew the pollenless sunflowers and they certainly are a neat plant.
Yeah, they are beautiful. I'll try cross pollinating them and see what happens.

Lenjo, can you tell me what the pollenless sunflowers are called and/or where you found them? I've got crazy allergies and try to keep the real pollen producers to a minimum.
Thanks.
I found my seed at Stokes.
