I posted this in PF awhile back but wanted to show it here; I was really delighted with the delicious sweet fruit on a tree that required no special care. In fact we had a severe drought but none of my persimmon trees showed it.

Persimmon 'Chocolate' (Diospyros kaki)
I have had the same experience. It has a wonderful rich spicy flavor that I find the best of all persimmons I have tasted. It requires pollination or the fruit will not lose its astringency (it is a PVNA-type). I had heard pollination could be difficult but I had no problem, every single fruit has been pollinated.
