Jujubes for eating fresh?

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I want to try a Jujube tree or two, anyone know about the ones which can be eaten fresh, rather than those which are mainly dried? A nursery not too far away carries the "Li" variety, but would like any info on what others have tried, since I haven't made up my mind and could also order one from elsewhere.

Scroll down to varieties to see which cultivars are best for fresh eating:

I think Honey Jar is the best. The first article above says it all - RIchard Ashton knows a great deal about jujubes.

Thank you for the info. I have property on a Texas hill with caliche and rocks, Jujubes sound like they could produce in a harsh environment like that.

I ordered about 40 varieties of jujube this year. I am going to have a bunch of the ga866 variety. They are supposed the have the highest sugar content. I am going to try the honeyjar as well. I am going to test all of them to see who does the best here in San Marcos, TX.
