Hello,
I was wanting to experiment with grafting some of my apple trees to dwarf rootstock this year. What is the best time of year to do that?
Thanks.

Best time of year to graft apples?
When the leaves are about an inch long, or in that general timeframe. Apples are pretty forgiving as long as the cambium contact is good and you have wrapped it well to seal it.

You can either do dormant grafting in the winter (Feb-Mar) or summer budding (Jul-Aug). Both are easy.

Thanks for the info. It was helpful.
