Sap Oozing from Apricot

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi there. I went out to take pictures of my garden today and saw some huge sap drips on the trunk of my Blenheim apricot. The leaves aren't any more damaged that the usual insect depredation. The tree bore this year and the fruits were good. Googling gives me the idea that such sap ooze can be caused by Eutypa (gummosis), Brown Rot, or Bacterial Canker. I'm not sure if it's any of these. It was summer pruned by a professional I hired. I looked at the ends of the branches that were pruned and they have very very light brown spots in the cross-section. Do you figure the sap ooze is simply from stress or is it an indicator of disease?

In my neck of the woods, I would suspect the peach tree borer, I actually have more problems with the lesser than the greater. http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2032.html

If I had that I would just ignore it since the sap was clear - it is not likely to be a disease. I don't have any borers here but I thought they also colored the sap since they are producing all that frass as they drill in which flows out in the sap.

I didn't see any holes, but I'll keep looking carefully. I sure wish I already had all the diagnostic knowledge I need...

Yep, the sap is clear. But there's two huge glops of it. It has dried around the outside of each glop.
