Lavandula stoechas subsp. pedunculata - this is considered hardy from Z9 South, but I thought I'd ask if anyone in the Mid Atlantic region has managed to successfully grow it as a perennial.
I would very much like to grow it myself, but would rather stick it in the ground instead of a container.
Spanish Lavender
I've tried both the Spanish and the French when I lived in Northern Virginia where it was zone 7, actually more than once with the French. Neither ever made it through the winter and that included some pretty mild winters and in very protected areas. I'd say definitely use a container and take it inside for the winter.
I planted several varieties this year including Provence, Grosso, Munstead and Hidcote, all hardy. Be glad to give you some cuttings next spring.
Thanks Hart, I have the hardy varieties, but thought I'd see if anyone has managed to pull off a miracle.
