2007Byndeweed Blooms

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I am going to start a new thread for the rest of the blooms of the year. I had fun gathering snapshots of the ones so far and putting them all together on one file.

Beth, what an interesting concept of a picture. Very creative and neat too. Hummmm.

Beth, what is the one in the second row from the bottom on the far right? Here's a pic of an enormous ruffled one coming up that looks just like it to me - either from seeds labeled Akatsuki no Umi or Hamaginga (am trying to get those sorted).

Beautiful and interesting collage - thanks.

Beth,

It reminds me of a quilt from a distance. What a neat way to show off all the different kinds you grew. I lke it a lot! Karen

Beth , the look wonderful... I can't get the photo to enlarge, but the thumbnail looks great. A.

Eva, top row third from the left is "Pink Swirl" which Ron says comes out of the flaked strains. The ebay seller says it is a dilute Joyce Cobb...but apparently not. I am not sure how stable this color is. Of the seeds I bought, there were only two plants that came up Pink Swirl while the other 3 came up regular purpurea pink and purple. The seller could have mixed up seeds, I guess. At least I got two plants like this, so I should have a few seeds soon.

Bluespiral, second row from the bottom, far right, is what I have been calling Big Floppy Purple. It came in a seed package from Japan with only Japanese writing on it so I don't have the name. It could be either of the ones you mentioned. It is by far the largest bloom I have seen this year. Karen, your looks like it has a bit of a white border...mine didn't.

This one stayed open until the sun was going down. I love to photograph in the late aftenoon sun, but hardly ever get a chance with MGs.
This one was sold as Dainagon

Beth, love them all but the light pink nil is the winner, really stunning as it
fades. WOW

The light pink nil may be China Doll. I did plant some of those seeds.

Beautiful flowers. Very nice effect with the backlighting on the light pink! Very artistic! - Arlan

What a beautiful show thank you for sharing.

Beth - Some really gorgeous blooms you have this year!!! WOW!

I am wondering, if this photo is Gray Fog:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3970622

then I wonder what mine is? It was also labeled Gray Fog when I got the seeds. Does this vine produce different colored blooms?

Mine looks more purple, but it was a cloudy day and I took the photo about 5PM. Mine was the first bloom and the first is not always representative. I'll take more photos as it blooms more.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I think I got my first hederecea. These are 4 seeds planted....two have tri-lobed leaves and two have heart shaped leaves. Maybe Ron can explain this.

I tried this photo again, picking the blooms and putting them all in the shade to photograph. One the left are two Heavenly Blues with different shades (from different seed sources) and on the right is a Blue Star. Too bad it was raining.
