I have a friend who has varigated hydrangea and they have never bloomed in the 5 yrs. she's lived there. Does anyone know why? She also has azaleas that have never bloomed!
variegated hydrangea
Is she pruning at the wrong time and taking off too much material? She might be cutting off the following year's blooms. But I have to admit I did not have too much success back home with the variegated hydrangea. I think paulgrow has them and he might help you out here.
The variegated dont procuce a lot of blossoms. They are primarily grown wfor their foliage I believe. I just got three of them last year, I prunned pruned mine this spring and didnt realize that they were old growth bloomers...oh well they are healthy! Maybe next year I will see a few blooms.
Patience will see rewards fivekulps - try not to prune them again for a while and see what happens :-)
Thanks for all the help. I don't think she's ever pruned them but I will relay the info to her.
